A few significant changes (good changes) are happening in my life at the moment and I have been really busy. I will share when the time comes. This is my … Read More

Who does not love an Oreo cookie? I have to admit though, I love the treats made with Oreo cookies even more. Especially when they are crumbed and mixed into baked goods. I baked a big batch of granola a few weeks ago. It was so delicious that I made a second batch with nuts and then another one with dried fruit. Black Sesame Swirl Cake
28|04|2020

I can't believe I am posting a new recipe here after so long. Ever since the lock-down I have been on my toes round the clock. If anything good has come out of this situation for me (this seems to be the question that gets asked often these days) is that I have had a break from driving 3 hours to and back for school drop offs and pick ups daily as the twins stayed at home. However there was distance learning aka home schooling to deal with. Hungry and impatient kids needing ongoing support and attention while I had my own projects lined up. Finally when Easter break came, a different challenge surfaced. How to find new ways of keeping kids engaged! They managed to pick up a few hobbies and interests but I have been struggling to do any of the things I enjoy. Like baking or photographing or writing. I feel for all the parents with young kids. As if life wasn't hard enough before the pandemic! Coming to this cake, if you've tried out treats from Asian bakeries, you might have come across black sesame flavour. It's nutty, fragrant and really lovely. This cake is actually way simpler than it looks. Part of the cake batter is mixed with black sesame powder and then the black batter … Read More
5 Ingredient Caramel Choc Chip Cookies

During this phase of lock down and uncertainty, one of the ways to remain calm is to create. Creating not only gives you a sense of direction and channelizes your energy into something positive, but it also gives you hope. I find baking immensely rewarding but now accompanied by family in the kitchen, the joy is ten-folds. We are baking a lot of cookies. If you always wanted your kids to start baking, there is no better time than now. Children are scared and lonely just like adults even though they may not know how to express it. Baking distracts them, teaches them a new skill and the allows them to use their hands and their minds to be creative. These caramel choc chips cookies are not only super easy, they can be adapted to add nuts, seeds, dried fruits. What's more, they are eggless! I hope you enjoy baking them with your family. Blackberry and Rose Sheet Cake
23|02|2020

Blackberries are so beautiful and affordable at this time of the year. As soon as I bought a sheet pan, that has been on my list for a while, I knew I had to inaugurate with an easy and divine tasting blackberry and rose sheet cake. Blackberries not only look stunning on their own but the purple-pink hue they leave behind when pureed or cooked is phenomenal. Hence, the highlight of this cake is the colour of frosting. Otherwise, it is a simple cake put together in one bowl and infused with rosewater. We are at the tail end of summer in Australia and it's sad to say goodbye to all the berries and stone fruits. I would love to squeeze in a few more summery recipes if I can. Meanwhile enjoy the season at your end of the world. Blackberry and Rose Sheet CakeServes 16 4 eggs, lightly whisked3/4 cup canola oil1 cup milk1/2 tsp rosewater3 cups self raising flour1 and 1/2 cup castor sugar1/2 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen) Blackberry Buttercream250 g unsalted butter, softened3 cups icing sugar3 tbsp fresh blackberry puree, strained 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
